RINA is currently recruiting for a Environmental Consultant to join its office in Tunisia within the ESG & Sustainability Division.

Mission

The Environmental Consultant focuses on assessing and mitigating environmental risks associated with energy, infrastructure and industrial projects. They deliver permitting related services, conduct environmental studies, environmental monitoring and modeling, compliance assessments, due diligence and audits to evaluate compliance with Italian and European regulations or Project Financing standards.

Key Accountabilities

Conduct Environmental Impact Assessment Studies:

- Conduct comprehensive environmental impact assessments for energy, infrastructure and industrial projects, considering factors such as air quality, water resources, and biodiversity.

- Conduct comprehensive environmental studies to facilitate permitting and authorization processes for energy, infrastructure and industrial projects.

- Assess potential environmental risks and identify mitigation measures to minimize adverse impacts.

Environmental and Social Due Diligences, Studies and Audits:

- Perform due diligence assessments to evaluate environmental and social risks associated with energy, infrastructure and industrial projects projects.

- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, social standards, and financial requirements or Project Financing standards.

Analysis of Pollutant Dispersion and Deposition:

- Utilize modeling techniques to simulate the dispersion of pollutants emitted from energy facilities.

- Evaluate the potential pathways and impacts of pollutants on air quality, water bodies, and soil.

- Assess deposition patterns and concentrations of pollutants to estimate their environmental effects and potential risks to human health and ecosystems.

Develop Mitigation Strategies:

- Develop tailored mitigation strategies to address environmental and social risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry best practices or Project Financing standards.

- Work closely with project teams to integrate mitigation measures into project plans and financing agreements.

Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams:

- Collaborate with engineers, economists, legal advisors, and other professionals to analyze data and assess project feasibility.

- Provide technical support and expertise to project teams regarding environmental considerations throughout the project lifecycle.

- Coordinate with project stakeholders, consultants, and regulatory bodies to address inquiries and provide necessary information.

- Stay updated on relevant environmental laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate environmental risks.

Prepare Reports:

- Compile and analyze environmental data to prepare detailed reports for stakeholders, including investors, financiers, and regulatory authorities.

- Communicate findings, risks, and mitigation strategies effectively to support Project Financing activities.

Support Proposal Preparation and Client Liaison:

- Assist in the preparation of project proposals and financing documents, including environmental sections and risk assessments.

- Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their requirements and address environmental concerns during project development and financing negotiations.

- Prepare detailed environmental studies and reports in accordance with Italian, European regulations, guidelines or Project Financing standards.

- Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation submitted to regulatory agencies for environmental permits and authorizations.

Travel and Site Visits:

- Travel internationally as required to conduct site visits and assess environmental, health, safety, and social aspects of energy, infrastructure and industrial projects.

- Review and monitor environmental documentation, compliance measures, and project implementation on-site.

Project Management Support:

- Provide support for project management tasks, including monitoring budgets, schedules, and milestones.

- Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely delivery of environmental deliverables and compliance with financing requirements.

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering GeneralMaster's Degree in Environmental EngineeringQualifications

Proven track record of conducting comprehensive environmental impact assessments and studies, considering factors such as air quality, water resources, and biodiversity.

- Experience in environmental assessment methodologies and compliance with project financing environmental and social standards.

- In-depth understanding and application of IFC Performance standards as well as ADB/EBRD/Equator Principles or other international Lenders' Environmental, social, health and safety standards, in the context of infrastructure and/or energy sectors

- Experience in performing due diligence assessments to evaluate environmental and social risks associated with projects, and conducting audits to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

- Proficiency in utilizing modeling techniques to simulate pollutant dispersion and assessing deposition patterns and concentrations of pollutants.

- Demonstrated ability to develop tailored mitigation strategies to address environmental and social risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

- Ability to perform air quality modelling and/or noise quality modelling, ability to use Windpro to undertake shadow flicker, noise and visual impact assessments.

- At least 3 years' related work experience.
