Women's Empowerment and Peacebuilding Internship

This internship opportunity is designed to support the implementation of women, peace and security (WPS) programs in a challenging environment. The intern will work closely with the WPS team to provide technical assistance and support to programmatic activities.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • - Provide technical support to the formulation and management of programs in the thematic areas of Women, Peace and Security, and Women's political participation programs in Libya;
  • - Contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies by analyzing the Libyan political landscape, ODA, and donor landscape;
  • - Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building/sharing, and communication efforts;
  • - Provide administrative support to the Program Unit;
  • - Assist in planning and conducting public events such as conferences, seminars, and report launches;
  • - Support the preparation of briefing material for high-level meetings, seminars, workshops, and international visits.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • - University studies in one of the following disciplines: gender studies, human rights, international relations, literature, politics sciences or other relevant subjects is required;
  • Meet one of the following:
  • - Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • - Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
  • - Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation; or
  • - Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree program and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
  • Language:
  • - Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;
  • - Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
