THE BANK:
Established in 1964, the African Development Bank is the premier pan-African development institution, promoting economic growth and social progress in Africa. There are 81 member states, including 54 in Africa (Regional Member Countries). The African Development Bank's development agenda is delivering the financial and technical support for transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Africa. In order to sharply focus the objectives of the Ten-Year Strategy and achieve greater development impact, the Bank has defined five priority areas (High 5s) for its interventions in Africa to be scaled up in order to accelerate results: energy, agro-industry, industrialization, integration and improving the quality of life for the people of Africa.
THE COMPLEX:
The Regional Development, Integration and Business Delivery Complex comprises five (5) Regional Development and Business Delivery Offices, one per region: North Africa, Southern Africa, East Africa, West Africa and Central Africa. The Regional Development and Business Delivery Offices are headed by Directors General. The Complex also includes a Special Office for Nigeria, a Department for Transition States and a Regional Integration Coordination Office.
One of the Complex's main mandates is to ensure implementation of the Strategic Framework for Regional Integration. The Strategic Framework for Regional Integration is the Bank's overarching strategy to support implementation of the Integrate Africa priority of the High 5s, Agenda 2063 and the African Continental Free Trade Area. It is designed to accelerate the free movement of goods, services, people and capital across Africa. The Strategic Framework for Regional Integration is underpinned by major investments in regional infrastructure, particularly energy, transport, water and information and communication technologies.
THE POSITION:
The job holder - office clerk
KEY FUNCTIONS:
Under the supervision of the Special Representative for General Services, the Office Clerk will assume the following responsibilities:
- Manage mail operations (registration, distribution, stuffing envelopes, postage, returns, etc.).
- Monitor outgoing mail (dispatch slips, acknowledgements, etc.).
- Carry out manual sorting of mail.
- Execute the supervisor's directives within the scope of the assignment.
- Ensure and monitor the movement of materials, products or objects according to work requirements.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Participate in storage of goods in the warehouse.
- Execute orders and directives from the supervisor.
- Participate in relocation operations.
COMPETENCIES (skills, experience and knowledge):
- Hold a secondary school diploma (Baccalaureate).
- Experience: Possess at least three (3) years of relevant experience in the field.
- Possess thorough knowledge of internal and external mail management methods.
- Possess experience in sorting and/or distributing mail and parcels.
- Recognised aptitude for customer service and organisation.
- Discretion and professional confidentiality essential.
- Team-working skills.
- Politeness.
- Respect for rules and instructions.
- Possess working knowledge of French and/or English.
- Good written and oral skills in French with a good working knowledge of English.
