We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer / Team Lead with expertise in the FIX protocol and a Strong understanding of the listed equities and derivatives trade lifecycle. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain robust FIX connectivity to counterparties such as trading venues (EUREX, EURONEXT, ICE, CME, …), OMS/EMS platforms (ITIVITI, TT, CQG…), and client drop copy systems. Responsibilities

  • FIX gateway Design & Development:
    • Build and maintain FIX-based connectivity to trading venues, brokers, OMS/EMS systems, and client drop copies.
    • Lead participation in FIX session certification and conformance testing with exchanges, brokers, and client counterparties.
  • Messaging & Event-Driven Systems: Design and integrate with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar message brokers.
  • Resilience Engineering: Implement automated failover, disaster recovery, and self-healing mechanisms for FIX gateways.
  • Monitoring & Diagnostics: Develop tools and dashboards for real-time monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting of FIX sessions and trade flows.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure FIX connectivity complies with MiFID II, EMIR, SEC/FINRA, and internal audit requirements.
  • Scalability: Architect FIX infrastructure that scales to new asset classes, increased trading volumes, and additional counterparties.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Partner with trading, operations, and compliance teams, while mentoring junior developers and leading best practices in FIX design.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of backend software development experience in trading or financial systems, with a focus on FIX connectivity.
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of the listed equities and derivatives trade lifecycle (order management, execution, allocation, clearing, settlement).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in C# or Java, with additional experience in Python for backend development.
    • Strong experience with Linux, TCP/IP, multicast, SSL, routing, and session-level troubleshooting.
    • Expertise in SQL (SQL Server, PostgreSQL), NoSQL (MongoDB), and Redis for trade and connectivity data handling.
    • Deep knowledge of FIX protocol (4.x/5.x) and connectivity workflows (order routing, execution reports, drop copy).
    • Familiarity with OMS/EMS platforms and exchange APIs.
  • DevOps & Infrastructure:
    • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for trading connectivity applications.
    • Enhance observability using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, or Splunk.
    • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Testing & Certification: Hands-on with FIX simulators (QuickFIX, VeriFIX, or in-house frameworks) for automated certification and regression testing.
