Software Engineer

The Full Stack Software Engineer works closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Product Managers, QA and Support teams to develop new functionality and deliver an excellent experience for customers and partners. Every team member plays a key role in maintaining a collaborative and supportive team culture.

The successful candidate participates in the development of new software features, establishes integrations, resolves issues, and supports multiple product modernizations. At this level, the engineer is expected to learn from more experienced team members within Agile Scrum teams while contributing to the full software development lifecycle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Work within Agile Scrum teams alongside Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, QA and Scrum Masters
*

Collaborate with globally distributed teams across different time zones
*

Participate in the development of new features across client, server and cloud components
*

Integrate third-party libraries and services into existing applications
*

Investigate and resolve customer-reported issues, security vulnerabilities and improvements in a timely manner
*

Contribute to all aspects of the Agile process including requirements analysis, backlog grooming, estimation, planning, daily stand-ups and retrospectives
*

Create UML artifacts including class, sequence, flow and activity diagrams
*

Support the Product Owner in understanding complexity, dependencies and delivery timelines
*

Collaborate with architects and principal engineers to design features and define the future direction of JavaScript, Java and cloud-based development
*

Write unit and integration tests for client and server features using appropriate testing frameworks

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

*

Java software development experience using Java 8 and J2EE
*

Knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks or libraries, jQuery, HTML and CSS
*

Experience working with the Spring framework and its ecosystem
*

Understanding of object-oriented programming, UML and design patterns
*

Experience working in an Agile, preferably Scrum, development environment
*

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
*

Ability to collaborate effectively with remote and distributed teams
*

Proactive mindset with strong ownership, curiosity and attention to best practices
*

Strong problem-solving and issue-resolution skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

*

Strong knowledge of AWS services including EC2, ECR, ECS, RDS, S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, Pinpoint and EventBridge
*

Experience with tools such as Docker, IntelliJ IDEA, JUnit, Selenium, Ant, Maven, Git, Jira, , Hibernate and PostgreSQL
*

Familiarity with design principles and an interest in working with customers on user interfaces and experiences
*

Ability to think through complex systems and processes and work confidently with data
*

Exposure to data analytics, reporting technologies, database optimization and performance tuning
*

Awareness of security best practices and experience identifying and resolving application vulnerabilities
