Cleaner Tunisia

Role Purpose 

The Cleaner will contribute to the smooth running of the office by maintaining a clean, hygienic, and organized office environment by performing daily cleaning tasks, ensuring workspaces are sanitary, presentable, and contribute to a positive and professional atmosphere for staff and visitors.


Main Accountabilities

1.General Cleaning

  • Clean and sanitize office spaces such as desks, meeting rooms, kitchens, restrooms, reception areas, staircases, garden area and in front of office.
  • Mop hard floors regularly and dust furniture, workstations, and common surfaces.
  • Arrange, mobilise and clean light office furniture (classroom tables, chairs, boards, staff desks, etc)
  • Empty and clean bins; replace bin bags as needed.
  • Wipe and disinfect frequently touched surfaces (e.g., door handles, light switches, keyboards).
  • Refill consumables such as soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, and toilet paper.
  • Maintain the checklists of completed tasks accurate.
  • Support British Council office social events and meetings: set up and cleaning.

2. Deep Cleaning (Scheduled or As Required)

  • Perform intensive cleaning of carpets, furniture, and flooring in all the office areas.
  • Clean interior windows, glass partitions, and other fixtures.
  • Descale taps, deep clean kitchen appliances (e.g., microwaves, fridges), and sanitize drains.
  • Thoroughly disinfect restrooms, including tiles and walls.
  • Remove cobwebs from ceilings and corners.
  • Report any pest infestations, mold, or other hygiene concerns to supervisor.
  • Maintain the checklists of completed tasks accurate.

3. Inventory of Cleaning Products

  • Monitor daily cleaning materials and supplies consumption.
  • Ensure proper storage and labelling of cleaning chemicals in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Notify the supervisor of low stock or required items in a timely manner.

4. Attend and complete British Council mandatory courses as per function

5. Complete any Ad Hoc task as necessary

6. Flexibility to work schedule to support British Council business and operational needs (holidays, weekends, etc)

About You (essential requirements for the role):

  • Experience working in a multi-cultural organization in an international context. 
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. 
  • Working in public, not-for-profit, and private sector organizations    
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience in cleaning/housekeeping.
  • An understanding of basic health, safety and first aid.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural organization in an international context. 
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
